Detroit and Me is two stories worlds apart, all thru the eyes of a former Romanian immigrant returning to the city at the 20-year anniversary of his immigration to America, to Detroit.
The first story documents how settling in Detroit unfolded from the moment of arrival 20 years ago, on the first streets he traveled and the neighborhood he lived in. There are funny situations, an immigrant's integration cannot go fully smoothly, we learn of American customs unknown to one from outside the US: free coffee refills, saying cheese when taking a picture etc.
The second part focuses on the dramatic changes Detroit has experienced in recent years and the wonderful reconnection with the city that for 3 years had been the beginning of his American adventure.
